Arthur and Chris,

I still don't have confirmation, but the story is that the
NO Committee responsible for levees bought a plane, built a
Casino, and still has $100 million plus unused in the bank.

Any corroboration?

Yes, it's rather amazing how the media are bashing Dubya for
it, when both
the town mayor and state governor are Dems. Even if Dubya
cut the federal
part of the levee and evacuation etc. funds, the local
gov't(s) could and
should have pitched in on these crucial investments for that
area.
I guess this shows how the Dems are just tweedledee to the
Republicans.

Or did the Dems let the big mess happen deliberately,
thinking they can
win the next federal election by blaming it all on Dubya?
The Dems' "9/1",
so to speak...

Chris
