I was in the Los Santos area (San Marcos, San Pablo and Santa Maria) about
80 kilometres south of San Jose. All was quiet there.

violence
in Costa Rica to be relatively high.
I've visited the country's central and northwestern areas, and did hear
that
the east coast area had a higher crime rate. Wheer was your experience?

Lawry, I'm not sure of whether by "ranked so poorly" you mean that Costa
Rica should have had more deaths or fewer. I spent almost a month in
rural
Costa Rica last year and found it to be one of the most peaceful places on
earth. Of course, the cities may be different.
