Of course we can't expect AFP to spell out the rationale for the mutual admiration -- it probably isn't rational anyway... > Do you mean that Chirac is much more worried about terrorism than the world > was lead to believe after 9/11, and that France depends upon Israel to be > the military might that will quell any serious threats from Iran (or local > others)? Who cares about trade/debt load or even proliferation (if proliferation is the issue, then Chirac should worry much more about Israel's 200 illegal nukes, installed in part in the latest cutting-edge silent submarines from Germany, better than those of France and USA). If "France depends upon Israel to be the military might..." then why did Chirac threaten to pre-emptively nuke Iran from France? It rather looks like Chirac is doing Israel a favor instead of the other way around. The question is: Why is Chirac putting the interests of Israel above those of France? (Like Dubya's putting the interests of Israel above those of America.) Could it possibly have anything to do with some "non-existing" Lobby? If not, what is the reason? I'm asking, not to be asked in return... After all, you suggested that the Iran issue is about the petro-euro.
