I worded the reply without the word 'nuclear', but it is still lethal because nature and its beings don't much care for heavy ammonium nitrate fuel. Nor a blast of it equivalent to 593 tons of TNT, whose explosion will cause, for those far enough away, fallout from hydro carbons (which will travel as far as the jet stream will take it). I understand that as far as bombs go, it is a gentler kind of pox.

More critically, I have concerns about the release of such a powerful bomb in the area that has experienced over 90% of the nation's nuclear testing. They want it to rock foundations below ground, but they don't really have a clue as to what will result at Nevada's vastly transformed and sensitive subterranean levels. Bombs are about guesstimates. I know you wouldn't be the first to drink from a neighboring stream.

Better to drink from afar to the end of a pestilence called greed!

Cheers to that!

No, no!  This is not a nuclear explosion, Natalia – it is an ammonium nitrate/fuel oil explosive. It is the same kind of explosive mix that McVeigh used against the Murtha building in Oklahoma City.  No need to hide in your bunker <smile>, at least from this explosion, per se.   Maybe from the minds that lie behind it, yes.

Cheers,

Lawry

Thanks for the heads-up on that date. Hope I can stay in my bunker for a week or two.

How odd that they decided for atmospheric explosion to target underground Iranian facilities. I guess the caverns in Nevada are too contaminated to arrive at conclusive guesstimates of impact.

Surely there exist environmental pollution laws that would prohibit atmospheric testing of a known lethal contaminant within fallout range of residential areas?  Not that the law applies to Bush's divine will.

And in about 6 weeks, June 2nd, Nevada will once again be a test site, trying to determine how “small” a bomb will work on Iran.

Pentagon to test huge 700-ton ‘bunker buster’, code named "Divine Strake" It will be an open-air chemical explosion.

Anyone still doubt the influence of radical Biblical theocrats on this administration?
