Harper's got it right.  Lowering the Parliament Hill flag for soldiers who die in Afghanistan would soon mean that the flag will never make it to the top of the pole.  Canadians could become known as a people who can't get it up!   And letting media and others that have no business there into CFB Trenton could cause all kinds of problems, like people getting in the way of aircraft bringing the bodies back!  As is usual with Harper, he has it right and everyone else has it wrong.  We're in for the long haul, remember?

And he has it right on other things too.  If, despite signing onto it, you can't meet the requirements of the Kyoto Protocol, try something easier like the Partnership on Clean Development and Climate.  After all, that's where the Americans have put their money.  Environment Minister Rona Ambrose has already talked to her American counterpart about it and, according to the Globe and Mail, says that Canada wants to bring in regulations that mirror or beat U.S. environmental rules.  That will be hard enough to do!

And then there's the national child care program.  Setting something up that gives kids real care is far too cumbersome, especially if you have to deal with the provinces.  So throw money at parents with young kids.  It gives them an option, either spend it on the kids or do something else with it.  Buy a new TV or spend it on beer and cigarettes and help the kids grow up to vote Conservative.

By the time the kids grow up there may be something else to vote for, but right now there isn't.  The Liberals have set sail on their ship of fools, and with more and more people jumping on board the ship could sink.  If it doesn't, who knows where and when it'll arrive.  So Harper really does have it right.  It's his show and likely will be for years to come.
