Re.: McDonalds: don't worry about the health aspects of McDonalds. Harry has
assured us that after one of their customers has developed cancer or
diabetes or whatever, he will simply not go back and McDs will go out of
business. See, the free market DOES work.

Yes, "in the long run" -- as in "the Long War" --, but not too long! i.e., not
when a meaningful number of protons decay or even just the sun burns
out, taking with it the NYSE among other things..., in the long run the
market does weed out a lot of unsustainable undertakings.

Even the McD CEO died of colorectal cancer, just 2 weeks after
he replaced his predecessor who had died of a sudden heart attack.
Well, at least McD CEOs walk their talk and actually eat at McD.

Which is worse: (1) If McCEO really likes the stuff, or (2) If he eats it like the assistant mayor went in the water in the movie Jaws [i.e., because he "had to"], or (4) If he secretly does like Clark Kent and runs to the Loo and barfs the stuff up, or...?

Then there are those who also volunteer
their kids for patriotic service (presumably Goneril and Regan
figured out a way to skip out):

I personally confess to still liking Heinz ketchup, and, you better believe, if I
was John Kerry, I'd serve it at every meal, both because I like it and also
to show my gratitude for what it did for me [I don't like pickles, however].

And generations of the "Marlboro man" died of lung/throat cancer.
Sort of "truth in advertising", at least IRL.
