Chris, if CEO Bush is almost there I would hate to see what failure looks like. Even if the US military succeeded in hammering together a fossil fuel empire it would be temporary. We could not maintain that kind of empire, fiscally or manpower, any better than Japan did attacking the Chinese mainland and SE Asia. And there is a lesson in preemptive invasion, awakening a sleeping tiger in the Middle East this time, as ill advised as bombing Pearl Harbor. Of course, I am not saying the US military cannot do more than the Japanese Imperial forces did, especially given the military industrial complex we have, but as an exercise to secure resources and control the balance of power in hostile territory, one of the cardinal rules of military strategy is to change your plans as soon as the enemies does theirs. When idealogues cannot do that, that fail forward doctrine falls into place. Karen
