Smoking and alcohol addiction don't offer choice.  The choice is only made
at the start of the addiction, and this choice is heavily distorted by
imperfect information.  As is the choice for consuming saturated fat and
other junk.  So you can't say that "the information is available".  The
vested interests see to it that it isn't available -- only imperfect,
but I'd rather call advertising "perfect DISinformation"...

The sad truth is that people are NOT "free to choose their own poison" --
free people wouldn't choose poison (enough for the profiteers) !  Only
manipulated people choose poison, and that's why the profiteers spend
so much on manipulating consumers (by commission and omission).  And
an important part of this manipulation is to make people believe that
they are free to choose -- that dependency is freedom.  Orwellian indeed.
