The response to my original post leaves me disgusted but not surprised. This is generally what happens whenever anyone tries to get a discussion going about Basic Income and similar topics.
You get the usual hate speech against the poor. Nothing in the world is stupider than to respond to this sort of garbage with anything except: shaddup! This is the problem with discussion lists generally. It is harder to get these cretins silenced. It tends to be easier in live discussions. But there is a large corps of right wing libertarian whack jobs out there who insinuate themselves into any discussion in the area of political economy. They will keep trying to turn it toward their type of thinking until they are gotten rid of. They even turn up on discussion boards intended for giving welfare and disability recipients advice on how to survive the system. There is a growing body of evidence that a lot of these cretins are actually being paid to do this. Of course, if they cannot take over the discussion, and cannot get someone like me silenced who sees through them, their alternative is to shut it down. This they do by starting a kind of swarming on whoever is confronting them, which alarms people such that they draw back from the discussion or leave the list. The answer to this is a list moderator who sees what is really going on and sets down some rules, or better yet, unsubs the bigots. A basic rule must be set here, folks, that there will be no negative framing about particular social classes. People have the right to be, period. If we can get that down, I will discuss further how a Basic Income works and how it is a critical part of the new economy which must come out of the present melt down. But I seriously do not want to be ranted at by right wing bigots and crack pots. tr _______________________________________________ Futurework mailing list [email protected] https://lists.uwaterloo.ca/mailman/listinfo/futurework
