Subject: [OIA] Telco Price increases in California; 14-18%

Thought I would pass this along to the list.

I have three telco lines at my home office (No. Calif.) and just
received invoices reflecting price increases of 14%, 17% and 18%,
respectively. These are measured rate business and residential
services.

To put this into context, consider that the US is in economic
depression with "real unemployment" rates near the peak "recorded
rate" in the 1930's (25%); higher in some areas, and whole states
(MI, central valley of Calif, etc.). Our economy looks like Japan's -
zombie banks who are a ball-and-chain on the economy. You may have
noticed that the MSM has adopted the incrementalist phrase, "severe
recession" to describe this phenomenon.

I called the Calif. CPUC and asked them to explain how it is that they
were able to approve such a large percentage rate increase, or any
rate increase, in the midst of a "severe recession." I was blown-off
of course.

Are you seeing this in other states or is it just the corrupt Calif.
PUC?

Charlie
