I think there's more to it than that, Harry. ----- Original Message ----- From: Harry Pollard To: [email protected] ; [email protected] Sent: Thursday, October 21, 2010 4:03 PM Subject: Re: [Futurework] [Ottawadissenters] 23 Things They Don't Tell YouAbout Capitalism
Ed, A trade war means that sellers are competing to provide us with better products at lower prices. Sounds pretty good to me. It is this need to build themselves up at the expense of others that we are witnessing in the current clash of currencies. I don't see the adoption of a standard international currency for some time to come. Meanwhile people buy gold as a place to hide, but as I remember from personal experience in the 1980s, gold can go down as well as up. I see John Gray as one of our foremost present day thinkers. While he may be best known for "Straw Dogs", other books by him are well worth reading - e.g. "False Dawn" and "Black Mass". American politics has been captured by a financial oligarchy, and there is no prospect of meaningful reform.'' http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2010/aug/29/ha-joon-chang-23-things __._,_.___ Reply to sender | Reply to group | Reply via web post | Start a New Topic Messages in this topic (3) Recent Activity: Visit Your Group Switch to: Text-Only, Daily Digest .
