Great.  Now that there's unscratchable glass, you can get the
opticiand to sell you glass lenses anymore.  Just easily scratchable,
matte-able, haze-able plastic one.

And no kudos for Corning, either, who had developed glass kitchenware to a
high level 50 years ago and then divested itself of humble,
commoditized kitchenware to pursue cool. So now you can have a
thousand different products, all of differeing and unknown
reliability, from a hundred mayfly or totally unidentified outsourcing
companies.  Feh.

In 1953, somebody (GM? Corning? I forget) brought a Tech is Cool,
Science is Wowsa show to my Jr. High and a guy drove a 20 penny spike
through a 2x4 with a (specially made) Florence flask.  So what else is
new?
