Splendid article, tnx. Notable number of supportive on-line comments,
too.
It's the kind of thing many of my contemporaries did. In part
inspired by Goodman's _Growing Up Absurd_, I abandoned the big city
once my modest student loans were paid off and betook myself to where
my kids could grow up surrounded by trees, animals, gardens and bugs
in place if pavement, traffic, fast food and the completely fabricated
world.
Less politically high-minded than the author of the above piece, I
guess. But then I was never temperamentally suited to do anything
remotely like TV news, that I might withdraw from it to use those
skills more constructively.
