It's worth taking a closer look at this below under this subject line... this is an event on Digital Inclusion in Aus... where they are demonstrating some very significant leadership in broadband infrastructure development. What is interesting about this is that the event appears to be sponsored by Huawei the Chinese infrastructure supplier. Sponsoring this event is an interesting social intervention (one that they probably aren't making at home) but quite progressive in the Aus context. Nothing similar is happening or at this point even conceivable in Canada (let along the US) given the Harper government and the fact that our IT hardware suppliers are dominated by US companies for whom such an intervention would be both ideologically and corporately anathema.
