So now that the banks are bailed out (re-capitalized) and are free to go on,
with some minor changes to their behavior, what about those citizens who
will experience the austerity measures imposed.

 

This looks a bit like TARP all over again.  Perhaps we can call faux Tarp or
Euro tarp.  I don't think the unemployed and those who will lose benefits of
one kind  or another will look kindly on banks being rescued and citizens
left to fend for themselves.

 

I know that in the nature of things that the banks play a central kind of
infrastructure role in the economy and just can't be left to fail for fear
of the domino effect.  Citizens can only retaliate when elections come
around again.  Or they might retaliate in unexpected ways.  How about
"Occupy Europe" with millions turning out for the event.

 

The financial crisis might be halted, for now.  It's the social crisis that
needs watching.
