The Landlord's Game (1904). From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Elizabeth "Lizzie" J. Phillips née Magie (18661948) was an American game designer. She invented The Landlord's Game, the precursor to Monopoly. Magie first made the game, known as The Landlord's Game, popular with friends while living in Brentwood, Maryland, and sought her first patent on it while living there. On March 23, 1903, Magie applied to the US Patent Office for a patent on her board game, which was designed to demonstrate the economic ill effects of land monopolism and the use of land value tax as a remedy for them. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/29316/the-landlords-game http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_Magie _______________________________________________ NetBehaviour mailing list [email protected] http://www.netbehaviour.org/mailman/listinfo/netbehaviour _______________________________________________ Futurework mailing list [email protected] https://lists.uwaterloo.ca/mailman/listinfo/futurework
