I caught the tail end of coverage on a program called Create CA, formed by educators, government, parents and even businesses who, having now experienced decades of only around 11% of schools offering any full-time arts programs in California, are working to reintroduce the Arts back into curricula across the state. In short, it is now accepted that US creativity is way down because of standardized testing/learning, and that training in various arts programs is what is going to get students past the fast closing gates of jobs availability, and into new fields of meaningful work. It is now recognized that the Arts is essential to all creativity; that arts education helps develop and enhance all aspects of brain function.

Couldn't find the Create CA bit, maybe tomorrow.
