I got into a complete mess when re-jigging my fifth sentence.
Here's my previous message again with a corrected second seentence:

Here's an observation which may be of interest to biology-inclined FWers. I am at a fairly advanced stage of emphysema. For example I'm breathess after about five yards of walking -- before then, if I'm carrying anything. I'm attached by a long thin tube which delivers oxygen-rich air.to my nostrils from a machine sitting in another room. Until taking to snuff five years ago, I was a heavy smoker all my life and am still additcted to nicotine. When I want a sniff I pull the O2 attachmeent away from my nose and park it elsewhere. If I'm sleeping or if I'm sitting quietly (reading an easy book or watching TV) I can exist quite happily without O2 for two or more hours -- and also forget all about snuff! However, if I turn to writing an e-mail, I find, after no more than a minute, that I'm going breathless and feel faint. So I quickly have to re-attach myself to O2. Although it's well-known that the brain requires something like 20% more O2 than the rest of the body (even while walking) my discovery means that different sorts of brain activity require different oxygen levels. If this is trivial comment for any FWers at least you know that my brain is working when I write to FW! How about yours?
