One is that Keynes had never been in a factory in his life. Well, I have to report that, in 1926, Keynes was a member of a high-level team trying to rationalize the English cotton spinning industry in order the save the jobs that still existed after the industry had been run down during the 1914/18 war. In doing so The team travelled to Manchester many times. I find it very difficult to imagine that they didn't actually visit factory shop floors as they did so.
