You mean that the other networks are not in one way or the other in their
broadcast selling us a view of the world; consumer goods; entertainment
designed to hold our attention until the next advert; children's morning TV
with a particular message. It's all the same. And "Faux new" is of a
piece. It happens to be at odds with some. And so in their do good liberal
view it must be censored.

"...multiplicity of sources and views..." Yeah, that's good. An educated,
critical reader should know what the spectrum of views is.
Better to have the nutters, sleazebags, manipulators and the like out there
in plain sight where people can see and compare.

But there's another perspective. Fox News is a product. It is a product
financed by wealthy, highly and aggressively ideological extremists,
carefully and ongoingly designed and managed to manipulate public opinion
and behavior for the benefit of its supporters. It is a venue for "views"
only of those who finance it. In fact, I don't suppose that there is any
compelling reason to infer that the "views"
of Fox News are those of its owners. Rather, they are whatever may be
surmised by them to have the desired influence upon th eminds and behavior
of the target audience.

So establishing -- compelling cablecos to carry -- such a programming source
in Canada amounts to importing a harmful product and facilitating its
distribution with a regulatory mandate. It is a well-financed projection of
political power for private ends.

Is frustrating such a project an act of censorship?
