Ah! Friend Ray is coming to the rescue of friend Tor! But I'm really very
touched that Tor is taking an interest in English educational history --
I'm just pointing him to sources which are different from the more
impressionistic glimpses that he's given.
As for:
>Could you pass me tea and a scone?
Well, I could do more than on this English summer's day -- if only you were
here. And right welcome you would be, too. Early this afternoon we're
playing crocquet on a friend's lawn (in truth, a pretty vicous game), and
then we're going to sing a couple of Guerrero motets, and then we're going
to have afternoon tea (which will undoubtedly include tea and scones, but
mine will also include a couple of beers which I'm taking with me), and
then we'll be singing some English madrigals in the evening, including a
few of Purcell's more risqu rounds which I'm taking along. I wish you
could join us.
Did I catch you aright? That you have just remarried?
All best wishes, then.
Keith
