As promised. hugs j ********** ---------- From: "Senn Brown" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Teachers Cooperative at Charter School Date: Fri, Feb 9, 2001, 7:08 AM The feature article in the February issue of "Converge" magazine (technology and education connections) describes an innovative public charter school in Minnesota that contracts with a teachers (worker) cooperative to provide the educational program. Now in its seventh year of operation, Minnesota New Country School (MNCS)(www.mncs.k12.mn.us) is a project-based school with an integrated curriculum serving nearly 110 secondary school students. EdVisions Cooperative (www.edvisions.com) provides instructional services, professional development and evaluation under contract to MNCS, as well as six other public charter schools. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation awarded EdVisions Coop $4.5 million to replicate the MNCS model in 15 other communities in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Doug Thomas, Director of the Gates-EdVisions Project, is scheduled to meet with educators, school officials and charter school leaders in Milwaukee on March 2.
