A friend of mine (a poet, in fact, though unpublished by his own choosing)
was thrilled to embrace as a motto the spontaneous utterance of his
girlfriend, and I confess there are times it holds great appeal to
me as well: she was watching some televised litany of the latest
desecrations committed on the planet by the diligent greed of our
fair species, and she cried "God, please send the aliens to nuke
us all now, we're too stupid to live!" And Happy New Year to you,
and the list.
