The debate whether it's "global warming" or "new ice age" is beside the point.  CO2 causes atmospheric destabilization which leads to increased wheather extremes and dislocations towards BOTH warmer and colder (and more stormy, wet/dry etc.) weather.  Last year was again full of such examples -- e.g. snow in South Spain and Turkey instead of the Alps.

You are right, Chris, warming or cooling is beside the point.

We should forget the nonsense, which maintains its Frankenstein life mostly because its supporters have a different agenda that requires a GW scenario.

Consider:

Much of the CO2 increase happened in the first half of the 20th century, yet, where is the Global Warming? After this considerable increase, we still had the Global meeting on the coming Ice Age?

The overwhelmingly important GW gas is water-vapor. CO2 is a minor GW gas.

We get CO2 by burning things. How do we keep warm in winter?

Our factories burn fuel. What do we cut in order to cut CO2?

Our progress is tied to trade which moves food, clothing around the world. Do we need to limit ourselves to local produce and live in fear of a famine?

However, I'm happy to help you out.

Think sun!

Throughout history, warm periods have coincided with increased solar activity. We have very heavy solar activity at the moment.

An increase of 0.02% in solar activity is equivalent to doubling the CO2 in our atmosphere.

A decrease in activity? Well, historically, astronomers tell us that suns can reduce their activity for long periods. If our sun's activity drops for an extended period, better get your long underwear ready.

Of course, we can always blame Bush.

You said:

" the EU's capital and other vast cities doesn't even have a sewage plant, whereas every smallest village in Switzerland has one "

What do they do? Push it into the sea?

This is most interesting and something I didn't know.
