In particular, the AOL TimeWarner merger is already a disaster (having written off $50 billion or so already !) with more humble pie to follow. >Also re the decline of the American Empire: will they decline >peacefully or might their arsenal of nuclear weapons, chemical >weapons and biological weapons come into 'play'. True believers of >'free market' capitalism might not like any other religion becoming >trump. Yes, America will decline peacefully -- just like all Empires of the past. Immensely powerful right up to the end -- then, poof! Not with a bang but a whimper. (It's about the only aspect of history that repeats itself !) But not for a decade or so -- by then most of our pension funds will be safely invested somewhere else (Canada? China?), so I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
