Hi Keith, That was a very touching response to the ps portion of my 'floating currency'' email. Speaking of touching, I heard a great piece on CBC radio the other day. A researcher was sharing the results of her study on how much touching goes on between young couples of different cultures. She sat in restaurants in different major cities around the world and counted the number of times couples would touch each other per hour. Her results:
Rio: 120 touches per hour Rome: 90 Tampa: 2 London: still waiting! Back to serious business: I wasn't joking about water supporting currency. It is obvious to me that potable water will become the most precious necessity in the world by the end of this century. Canada with vast amounts of land, water, natural resources and a tiny population (30,000,000) should have it made. Our neighbours to the south make me a tad nervous though. take care, Brian McAndrews ps Some people worry about computers being smarter than humans. Remember all the fuss when Big Blue beat the world chess champ? It never bothered me. I think it helps us clearly see the differences between humans and machines. Humour and poetry are the 2 most challenging hurdles for people learning a second language. Those things that make us laugh and cry. My laptop does make me curse occasionally.
