Pearl
Ray,
Put 2 & 2 together. We are both anguished at the
world situation.
The roads are
lined with immigrants competing for the type of low pay work that musicians
and actors take when there is no professional work....
Overpop is a
major driver of mass migration.
My experience with that is a little
more classically what Keith has been saying. The NYCab driving
immigrants are not moving here but coming here because of the money which is
low for American but opulent for many of their families back home.
I have had Polish School Teachers who left their children and husbands at home
to come here and clean houses in order to send money home. The
Russians who bring their families tend to worry about the bad schools here
compared to Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kiev (yes I know its not
Russian). But the money is the issue and the kids are stolen by the
culture which teaches adolescent disrespect as a way of
life. The only ones who seem to florish are the musicians
who congregate in communities form their own schools and work in the best
Musical Conservatories in the City.
I'm
getting very impatient with the discussion here because of the reality
that I know and experience daily. It seems that no one is
interested in hearing what is going on out here and how dire it
is...
Agree
Americans can get very short about taking
care of everyone elses children...
If religion and
stupidity weren't so prevalent, aid for family planning and health could
reduce unwanted babies & reduce migrations as well.
(<10% of
what the rich nations give as aid would easilly cover
it)
Not my religion. We
have no problem with Science and we have always practiced birth
control. We developed 70% of the world's staple foods with
our agricultural technology and have a very good sense of environmental
balance. When we have gone to European American Schools we have
lost that sense and the same is true with the religions.
When we work to come back to our traditions, we find ourselves at odds
with the IRS around religious freedom issues, (The IRS calls us a church
which is like calling a Synagogue a beer hall) local governments want to
tax we Heathens and absolutely nobody knows what to do with our employment
practices when we are able to do our traditional cooperative
forms. Yesterday the government called and asked if I was employed
and by whom. Then it was full or part time, and finally they came
up with seasonal work. Which is the reason that you can't get a
decent count on how many artists work at their work. We are called
part-time or waiters or house-husbands. Simply put, the system
doesn't work and it isn't because of too many people. We have less
of our people then you do of yours or the Moslems or any other major
group.
I've been trying to find out about
the population balances in Canada. Mexico doesn't make such a big
deal about Indians since there are so many but it was open season in Guatemala
during Iran/Contra and the regime of fundamentalist Ephron Rios-Mont.
So, I'll go with your comment about
stupidity which I equate with chauvinism, provencialism and the need to
proselytize the world. It doesn't matter whether its
Christian, Moslem, Communist or Capitalist it is still an International
conspiracy that degrades cultures and promotes mono-thinking.
The problem with War is that it is addictive
and we are all once more wrapped in the simplicities of life and death.
...
One of the 4 horsemen. We are part of nature, and culling will
not be slowed (my opinion) except by rational reduction of
births.
I have one daughter.
And I work in renewable human resources both as an Artist, Teacher and a
Priest. The only waste here is the electricity that is
because my Landlord won't upgrade the wiring and so we are in constant danger
of fires as well as paying huge bills and constantly blowing out incandescent
bulbs. As we get older the floresent alternatives become untenable
or I would just convert all of the lights. I pay $1750 for two
rooms rent. But I save on car fare because I'm close to everything
that I need most of the time.
It may be the lesser of the Evils
in a very fanatical and miserable world that is getting more so but that is a
miserable excuse for a society and a philosophy...
Market
economies aren't equivalent to mega scale consolidation of wealth and power.
We don't have free trade, and I doubt it is possible beyond local small scale
societies.
Why do you and so many others persist in saying scale
doesn't matter?
I don't understand.
Could you be more specific? I'm not sure on what side
of "scale" you mean since I seem to be on the opposite side of everyone else
myself.
Good to talk to you,
Ray
