Dear Mo Mowlem, Thank you for a splendid article in yesterday's Guardian. I agree completely with what you've written. I have been writing similarly over the past few weeks to Futurework List (a Canadian-based discussion list). If you wish, I can send you two or three of my postings which have made the same case -- though with, I think, additional evidence.
I have been incredibly surprised that no-one else (as far as I'm aware) in Europe or America has written on the same lines. It seems so obvious to me. I'm waiting for one highly significant development. Last Tuesday, Bush called Saudi Arabian's US ambassador to his ranch. I believe that he read the Riot Act to Prince Bandar -- that the Saudi Arabian government must change its Wahhabi-dominated constitution and that it must get serious about rooting out the Al Qaeda network within the country. (This is probably what Bush is going to tell Congress in secret session today or tomorrow -- and, of course, what Blair already knows.) Otherwise, Bush will be landing troops in Kuwait for the purported purpose of invading Iraq. I think the tension in the Middle East is now so high that I would expect momentous news from Riyadh within days -- with a coup one way or the other. Yours sincerely, Keith Hudson P.S. I don't think Bush can maintain his covert strategy for much longer without it leaking. It is to be hoped that the SA government reforms itself quickly -- and apparently of its own volition. Otherwise, I foresee a Middle East fundamentalist explosion of immense proportions with huge economic repercussions for the rest of the world. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------- Keith Hudson,6 Upper Camden Place, Bath BA1 5HX, England Tel:01225 312622/444881; Fax:01225 447727; E-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ________________________________________________________________________
