I agree with Arthur that we haven't solved what he called the distribution problem, and would like to add a little to various suggestions which have been made about solving this problem
Increasingly it seems to me that money lies at the heart of the problem, but only because we have allowed ourselves to become totally dependent on a money creation and distribution system over which 'ordinary people' have no control. If everything were global then it would make sense to have one system (and we would just have to cop our lack of influence over the system) but everything is not global and there is huge room for 'parallel' currency systems which only operate in local areas and help to include and invigorate these areas. And if they only operate locally, then the locals can make sure they work for those for whom they are designed (which is exactly what is happening now - those who operate the global financial system make sure it works for them). If this is unfamilar territory for anyone, I invite them to read any of the books by Tom Greco (readily searchable on the web) who provides the most lucid exploration of this area I have found. And I might add, I have personal experience on the ground that it actually works.
