There is no question but that the Israeli-Palestinian question has to be
solved by talk, talk, talk and improving the situation of the Palestinians
first and foremost. The idea that destroying farms and streets and homes
with massive military means can prevent suicide bombers is puerile. Fact -
the only thing that military pressure [with destruction] in Palestine has
accomplished is more suicide bombers, more despair, and in the Israeli
government, the superficially rational decision to exert more pressure.
My perception is that Sharon does not have the training or the experience
necessary to see that there is no point to unrelenting force... point
meaning, no possibility of security for the region, no possibility of = dare
I write the word? = peace. And in the meantime, the Israeli economy is
suffering; people are constantly in a state of panic; and all forms of
decent government are pushed aside in the name of a 'war for survival.'
Think about it, Harry.
