Hitler was appeased (and built up) as a bulwark against the commies (those in Germany and abroad). Appeasement ended suddenly after the Hitler-Stalin pact was made. Similarly, Saddam became obsolete after he dropped hostility towards Iran. > not unlike the Dear Leader of North Korea, the nuclear megalomaniac > with whom the Americans have been having "excellent" discussions but > who doesn't have oil. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Actually, large oil reserves have recently been discovered in North Korea (~70 billion barrels -- that's more than in/around Afghanistan!), and Dick Cheney's company Halliburton has already established itself in South Korea, along with Condoleeza's Chevron, waiting to grab the North Korean oil too. See http://www.rmfdevelopment.com/political/NorthKoreaOil.htm http://www.kimsoft.com/korea/nk-oil.htm No wonder that the North Koreans are getting nervous, reaching for their collective gun... Too bad that the wartime deception "N.Korea is not about oil" was swallowed even by Robert Fisk.
