Hitler was appeased (and built up) as a bulwark against the commies
(those in Germany and abroad).  Appeasement ended suddenly after the
Hitler-Stalin pact was made.  Similarly, Saddam became obsolete after
he dropped hostility towards Iran.

Actually, large oil reserves have recently been discovered in North Korea
(~70 billion barrels -- that's more than in/around Afghanistan!), and
Dick Cheney's company Halliburton has already established itself in
South Korea, along with Condoleeza's Chevron, waiting to grab the
North Korean oil too.  See

No wonder that the North Koreans are getting nervous, reaching for

Too bad that the wartime deception "N.Korea is not about oil" was
