Thanks Stephen -- your explanation makes more sense... I thought that many uses of the term "holistic" have quite little to do with holiness, except perhaps with the "holy" mammon...

The German word for (w)holistic is "ganzheitlich" which is the adjective to the noun "Ganzheit" (the whole, or entirety) and has NO relation to "heilig" (holy). But some "holistic" practitioners who think they sound scientific by using terms that their patients (victims) don't understand, translate the English term to pseudo-German "holistisch" -- which has no German stem, but comes dangerously close to "hohl" (hollow, stupid)... (phonetically there's no difference between "hohlistisch" and "holistisch") So, "(w)holistic car wash" would be "ganzheitliche Autowaschanlage", but I've never seen this here...
