sign off on Bush goals.
This is a cross-post from the
Federation for Behavioral, Psychological and Cognitive Sciences. The story
was picked up by the American Psychological Association's Division 6 and put on
the listserve. This is the first time that I have seen the people
currently in "power" begin to require what is reminiscent of the "Loyalty Oath"
from the McCarthy period. It should be a BIG red flag. I don't think it
matters whether the goals were "non-controversial" or not. The problem is
that it was required at all and that people felt they had to sign off on the
statement. We should probably be alerting our Congressional delegations.

IN TODAY'S POST: NIH EMPLOYEES MUST SIGN OFF ON BUSH GOALS
The Washington Post published an interesting article today on how employees at the National Institutes of Health were asked to sign a document affirming allegiance to the Administration's goals. The article states that no other agency within Health and Human Services was asked to do this. Apparently most of the goals were non-controversial; however, one section referred to the employees' willingness to commit to outsourcing jobs to keep costs down. Some employees were quoted anonymously as well. Read the full article on this link:
