I heard on NPR an ad for The Ford Foundation, which says it is working to figure out how to balance person's work and family life.
And I thought: What about their "life of the mind", which is generally at best only tenuously related to either of those two other lives?
We do not live in a subsistence economy. Why should we think only in terms of the reproduction of individual and species life?
