I remembered today that the reason BUsh did not declare the Iraq war *won* is that then he would have to repatriate POWs and stop assassinating oficials of the defeated regime.
As odious as Udy and Husey (or whatever their names were...) may have been, there was an alternative to bringing in A-10 Warthogs to disassemble the universe to the point at which they would be killed: They could have been arrested and tried in a court of law. They were not firing at anybody when we went after them....
