I'll probably have another HP printer (same version as the one I already have) by the end of the week. It's being checked over and will cost me 150 -- so that's not bad is it? (However, I have no idea what the cost of a new one is -- about 650 I'd guess.) I think Richard (of Laser Cartridge Co) will be delivering it Friday or perhaps Monday.
I'm actually transferring a lot of material from the other PC to this -- stuff I wrote about 7 or 8 years ago for another, but similar, purpose, just before I started Handlo, so I won't be needing a printer for a few days. But I'm very much hoping that in the meantime we'll be getting the website up and running with some minimal material -- and then, hopefully, you can show me how to add new material from then onwards. (I imagine that will be straightforward if we have a tidy "launch pad" set-up on this PC.)
Meanwhile, my American prof friend, Harry Pollard, is supposed to be coming here for one/two/three nights this week together with his grandson. I haven't heard from him yet, which is a nuisance because I've got tickets for the Three Tenors and I don't know whether he wants to go or not. On the other hand, he may not turn up at all! He was supposed to come two years ago and didn't bother in the end. He's like that. (He was a born Cockney, but became Canadian and then American during his career.)
But let me assume for now that I'll be available at any time for comments at each stage you want feedback on the website. Please crash on with it at max speed if you would. I'd be ever so grateful. It will make an enormous difference to my life. (You see, I want to use the website in an unusual way, and I'm interested to see what happens. In one way, it will be my "literary workbench" but it will also constitute a back-up just in case this laptop gets jammed up solid with snuff!)
If you have enough horizontal space, could you please add two or three more (un-named) links across the bottom of the Home page so I can use them later if necessarey. And then there's the question of the metatags. If possible, I want it to come up very high on the list after a Google search for both "Economics" and "Evolutionary Economics", but there are many more "economics . . . . " phrases I can use as well. I seemed to have got the impression from my Scandia Homes pal that these metags have got to be visible words on the Home Page. If that's so, then I can add them in very small print underneath the design I've sent you -- underneath the links, that is. If a large number of metatags have to be used to get the website to the top of both E and EE listings then I think I can weave them into a design feature which will be aesthetically acceptable also. I've never heard of this being done before, and I certainly haven't seen such on the Web, but I see no reason why not. But I need further guidance from you on this metatags business -- how many I am likely to need and so on.
Best wishes,
Keith
