Karen and all,
The popularity of Bush administration news prompts that I urge
you to subscribe to Larry Morningstar's website. He seems to
pick up a lot of these stories ahead of the New York Times or
the Washington Post, for example. He is a columnist for a few of
larger publications, but gets daring on this site, and often there's
a good joke too.
To subscribe, send the post "subscribe: The Socio-Political
Report"
Enjoy,
Natalia

Subject: [Futurework] Non Working
Numbers
Paul Soloman on PBS NewsHour makes the
case early and often that the official unemployment numbers are not accurate;
it’s much worse than being reported. How much worse? Try 12%.
The officially counted unemployed like
urban youth, which is at 35%;
The Discouraged Worker who is becoming
deskilled;
The increase in those on full time
disability;
The rise of the prison population, 2/3 of
which were unemployed at incarceration.
Non Working Numbers @ http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/economy/july-dec03/unemployment_07-29.html
Please congratulate me on not launching
into a Bush2-failed economic policy-class warfare politics
diatribe.
