It is interesting to note, Chris, that the Dalai Lama has teamed [intentionally chosen] up with Daniel Goleman to write his latest book, "Destructive Emotions." Goleman is the author of "Emotional Intelligence. While Goleman may have had a scholarly interest in his central concept, as science, it has certainly been co-opted by the New Managerialism as a hegemonic resource aimed at enhancing organizational productivity.
I am sure we can anticipate a similar process with "Destructive Emotions" - micro-manage all of that pent-up disaffection in workplaces, rather than change authority relations. The problem is you, dear worker, gotta get rid of all those destructive emotions, and you'll be fine. Anger is an anachronistic emotion. (I read that, somewhere, probably in Psychology Today.) I am sure Goleman is already being recruited as a keynote speaker by the Business Roundtable and corporate sector, in general. Personally, I like Michael Lerner's approach, in his "Surplus Powerlessness," better.
