I don't have currently gnome-settings-daemon to reproduce your problem, but
when I've used it, I haven't noticed any problems with keybindings. Maybe it's
a specific keyboard configuration in GNOME settings, which changes the way
your keyboard is handled. Check in your keyboard options.
