I don't have a solution, but I have experienced this same error since I
started using fvwm. I think I reported this here of in fvwm.lair.be but it's
been a long time since and I am not really sure. 

This only happens with the tcl/tk xine default frontend, others like kaffeine
or gxine will work without a glitch. 

I can't give much help, but at least you know you are not alone :p
