Yes, phasing out lots of inconsistent old syntax, not just the
names of styles, is a vague plan for 3.0.  For now, new styles
should obey two rules:

 * If it's an on/off-style, "stylename" switches it on and
   "!stylename" switches it off.  This also affects some styles
   with arguments like "button 1" -> "!button 1".

 * If a style accepts one or more arguments, the default setting
   can be restored by omitting the arguments.  There are still
   many old styles that do not adhere to this rule.
