No, I see no difference.

I can't reproduce core dump now. But this does not mean much.

Here is the history. Yesterday I ran fvwm from yesterday that core dumped
when any title is expanded. X initially exited and I started X again (so it
can't be because of global root pixmap). I did: while true; do fvwm..; done
Since I always use icons, I point to icon titles from my habbits, it core
dumped several times for me, but today it didn't (even without your latest
commit). With this commit I also can't reproduce a core dump now.
