Oh, expect that a lot.  Xlib programming is a singular art per se.  I
am sure you must be aware of it, but the best X11 sites I have found
are all linked from Kenton Lee's webpages:

It's the minutae of it all, that makes me love Xlib programming --
that, and it's very challenging.  Great fun.  But do keep up your
