FWIW, I've been using backing store with a fairly recent version of XFree: XFree86 Version 4.2.1.1 (Debian 4.2.1-4 20021123003806 [EMAIL PROTECTED]) / X Window System It is disabled by default, however, and you'll need to pass +bs on the server command line for it to work. -- Ben
