It's one of that *stupid* EWMH (Extended Window Manager Hints)
features that allows applications override window management
policy set up by the user.  It allows *applications* to switch
desks and pages.  This is useful for third party pagers, but gaim
misuses it for its own purposes.  It would be best if the gaim
developers removed this mis-feature.  There isn't even a way to
disable it selectively in the window manager because the request
isn't tied to a window.  All I can do is write a command that
disables these messages completely, i.e. for *all* applications.

Would you contact the gaim developers and ask them to remove this
again?
