This is also our experience. I've setup several boxes with this kind of setup in both
FP2 and FP4 (NGAI) with hardware raid using the Compaq Smart Array controller.

Works a treat. Just use HP smartstart to configure a hardware mirror then
install SP. I am running NG AI with no problems. Even pulled a disk out
and the box just carried on running
