I had some probems with some applications too, like X11, and I also got the state errors in the log.

Lets say FTP client x is behind the firewall and FTP server is outside the firewall..they initiate the telnet connection from one of the desktop machine to FTP client and than they doownload the files which takes about an hour or so..but unfortunately the FTP session breaks with an error unable to open communication channel....also same problem is faced in the oracle clients trying to download tables which takes around 3 hours and suddenly connection breaks with oracle error which again says that communication path was not established or was was broken.... My tcp timeout is 36000 (10 hrs)...also i can see lot of rejects on the firewall with the information as trying to open the known service port.
