I was wondering if it was possible to define multiple SecuRemote DNS servers for the same domain and have them act as redundant DNS. This would be similar to defining multiple DNS servers on a workstation. Should one DNS server fail, the client knows enough to use the second DNS server.
I created two SecuRemote DNS servers, selecting the two separate DNS server objects in each property sheet. On the "Domains" tab I configured them both for my domain ".andover.edu". I pushed the policy and updated the site on my SecuRemote. I also checked the "userc.c" file to make sure that both of the DNS servers were listed, and they were. I then connected to my DSL and then to my site via SecuRemote. I made sure DNS was working properly and that names were resolving, and they were. I then unplugged one of the DNS servers and tried again. All DNS queries to my domain failed at this point until I plugged that specific DNS server back in. It seems that the SecuRemote will use only the last entry in userc.c file for its DNS if multiple servers exist for the same domain.
