We just updated from R54 to R55. I can't comment on the installation, as it was a
local upgrade, but we do have the same problems with inserting routes and configuring
NTP. The backup page seems to work though.

I'm not surprised by all the scripting errors; for awhile you couldn't upgrade
SecurePlatform FP3 to R54 until they redid all their upgrade scripts. I don't recall
PIXes having this many issues...

SecurePlatform is still light years behind IPSO, but at least you can use your own
hardware.

Subject: [FW-1] SecurePlatform NGAI R55

Hello,

Did someone already installed SecurePlatform NGAI R55 ?

I think there are at least three major bugs in this release.

First, in the installation "assistant", you have the choice to do a clean
install or to upgrade from another version. When you choose to upgrade, it should ask
you for the location of the .tar.gz exported configuration (tftp server, local, ... ).
But when you choose to upgrade from another version, it simply crashes down with an
error message that looks like there has been a problem in a script.

So I'm forced to use the upgrade_import / upgrade_export tools. Which leads me
to my second bug...

Second, If you try to run the upgrade_import/upgrade_export tools present on
the harddisk of your secureplatform, (in the /opt/CPshared... /upgrade_tools/
directory), it returns an error message because it's unable to find gtar. In fact, it
looks for it in the same directory. The only solution I found was to insert the CD-ROM
and go in the linux directory. There, gtar and upgrade_* tools are in the same
directory...

Is it a bug or a misuse ?

Third, the integrated web page is awfully bugged. When you insert static
routes by example, if you leave the page and come back on it, the table seems empty.
The use of "netstat -nr" shows you it's not the case (hopefully!). Another bug is by
example in the NTP or backup page, it seems to not accept the arguments you send.

Can someone help me ? Is there a bug fix release or am I wrong ? Does someone
has the same troubles with R55 ?

        Thank you!
