Uhmm, Could it be there is just a 1hour time difference in logging? There's been some previous discussions about logs being 1 'hour late'.
Are you really saying that if you say add a rule to allow telnet, this rule will only come in affect after 1hour of pushing the policy? During the 60 minutes the logs continue to show traffic previous to the policy install but everything else is delayed until after the 60 minute period expires. If you then look at the logs 60 minutes after the policy install you can see all the attempted traffic during that time and it looks like it was passed through as it normally would have been - no drops or rejects. Same thing after a reboot, it takes 60 minutes before the policy first applies - then everything works fine. Anyone got an idea what might be going on? I've installed everything in a very vanilla manner - basically using the defaults as is where ever possible.
